If you have done your research, you will know all about the savings on both cost and efficiency LED lighting can save your business. With up to 80% energy savings per bulb, plug and play direct replacement bulbs and a much greater cost effectiveness than high pressure sodium or metal halide bulbs, LED lighting can make vast improvements to your company.
However, these improvements won’t mean anything if the light they provide isn’t also up to standard. So why then do some LED light bulbs seem too bright?
Wrong wattage
It is important to remember that how we measure industrial lighting is not the same as what we do at home. While many domestic households also see savings from switching to LED lighting, many still use inefficient incandescent bulbs. For industrial purposes, measurement of lumens produced is more important.
If we had a light bulb that produced about 1,800 lumens, an incandescent would need 100 watts. For high-intensity discharge bulbs, it USES 30 watts, but leds use only 20 watts. If we don't know how much light we're emitting, we might buy the wrong type of bulb and think we need more wattage than we actually do.
At OEO, we also highlight watt. It's an industry standard, but it's important to know how it compares, not how many watts the bulb actually USES. This is an amazing way to save money on LED lighting, which USES less energy by providing more light.

Wrong type of bulb
Wattage is one thing, but if you use the wrong type of bulb, your LED might look too bright. We have a range of LED bulbs that can be used for industrial purposes, sports venues or office and indoor use. You need to choose the right products according to your own needs.
For example, for refrigeration, you need to fill long units with evenly distributed light. Our T8 replacement bulb is perfect for this purpose, with the same light distribution. However, if you place a vertical fixture in a unit, this will mean that the parts look too bright and some too dark.
Another aspect of the wrong type of bulb is that it doesn't allow for more space. If you have elevated Spaces within the industry, we have something like the OEO 1K ULTRA series that can be used to properly fill these Spaces. With the lens Angle and specially designed distribution, it will provide the appropriate light for this space. If you set this bulb on a lower level, it will shine too bright for your purposes.
Not taking full advantage of LED versatility
A high-intensity discharge lamp takes time to turn on. This is to make the arc glow and affect the metal compounds present in the bulb to the desired intensity. With leds, you get full brightness in less than a second.
This ability means that you can place individual bulbs on timers, control them over wi-fi, and place dimming switches on the light fixtures. Not only are many of our LED lights compatible, they also don't wear out like HID bulbs because of this fluctuating charge through the bulb. If your LED bulb looks too bright, you can adjust it either manually or through a computer operating system.
The final reason your LED bulbs look too bright is because you're surprised by the quality. Compared to HID, improved color temperature options and changing LED lighting may only make your space look brighter. Actually, it's just better lighting.
