LED Tape Ideas

LED tape is the perfect solution for decorative lighting features. It's size and ability make it so versatile in so many different applications. It can be mounted almost anywhere offering benefits such as low heat and ultra bright output.
In the home for example it could be used to illuminate book shelves or under kitchen units as a general light source benefiting from high light output and low running costs. This would virtually eliminate bulb replacement as the life expectancy is on average some 30 - 50,000 hours. In the home this would be well over 10 years with our changing a single light bulb.
Bathroom lighting
Low voltage LEDs are ideal for use within a bathroom environment. Because most of the LED drivers or power supplies are waterproof they are suitable for this application. The tape is also widely available in waterproof versions. Waterproofing is often identified by an IP rating, the IP rating is normally identified by numbers. IP65 is a waterproof rating that allows contact with water whereby IP68 is submersible. LED tape comes in both versions.
Kitchen lighting
More and more LEDs are used in kitchens because of the flexible and compact design. Most of the time the usage of LEDs are either under a pelmet, lower kick board or within a cupboard to light the contents. Innovative design has led to the adoption of this new technology creating both mood and sophistication to kitchen schemes often adding value to the concept. IP rated waterproof LED tape is generally used because the protective coating makes cleaning easier and stops the ingress of fluids damaging the light emitting diodes.
Bedroom lighting
Headboards are ideal places to install LEDs, the power of the light source provides an ambiance ideally suited to bedroom interior decoration adding the WOW factor to any room. Most designers would recommend lighting to create desire and add value to any home. Lighting is renowned for it effect on the immediate atmosphere and LED tape is the perfect answer for decorative lighting solutions. Warm white light is ideal when decoration includes golds, browns, creams and earthy colours. Neutral white adds sparkle to more vivid colours of decoration whereby the colour is intended to be expressed such as reds, blues and whites. Neutral white looks amazing illuminating pearl tiles in en-suites.
Exterior lighting
IP rated or waterproof LED tape can be adopted under brick capping to illuminate exterior garden features like walls. It can also be installed around water features, under roofing canopies or used in exterior barbecue areas. As a light source LED has many advantages especially in exterior applications where weather conditions can be demanding. The benefits of LEDs and the minimal maintenance associated with them give designers and architects the ability to integrate lighting in hard to access areas and in contrast areas that are often accessible by the general public where lower voltage, cooler operating solutions are required.
