Do I Need Occupancy Sensors for My High Bay LED Lighting?

LED lighting means you can have your lights switched on for longer and use less energy for the privilege. This doesn’t mean you shouldbe leaving lights on longer. The energy efficiency of LED lighting is an opportunity not only to save money, but to reduce our energy output. Occupancy sensors can provide many benefits to your business, even if you require high bay lighting.

What is high bay lighting?

Ceiling lighting is used in warehouses, factories, processing plants and any place where large machinery or industrial products are needed. These businesses are created on an industrial scale, so they need commercial space to work in them. When the interior reaches 20 feet (6 meters) or more, they are considered high bays.

To illuminate these large Spaces, you need to fill both vertical and horizontal Spaces. High-shed LED lighting achieves this by using higher quality white light from the bulb, which requires less energy to run. They also used lens angles to make the light go further in the desired direction. This is different from competitor bulbs, such as high pressure sodium or metal halide bulbs, which default to omnidirectional.

What is the occupancy sensor?

Essentially, the occupancy sensor is an indoor sensor that detects the presence of a human being and USES it to switch something. They don't have to be used just for lighting, but can be used for almost anything that requires a relatively small amount of electricity. The techniques used are varied but may involve microwave, ultrasonic or infrared thermal detection functions.

What are the benefits of using sensors?

The main advantage of hogging a sensor is energy savings. They do this because when there is no room to use, the lights can be turned off automatically after a certain period of time. A human error or inability to access the light switch may mean that the bulb has been out of light for a long time. The sensor footprint minimizes this time.

Sensors can also make the working environment safer by illuminating Spaces that would otherwise be in the dark without having to turn on and off. The light is there when you need it and not there when you don't.

Are occupancy sensors suitable for gaowan LED lighting?

Fortunately, the versatility of LED lighting technology means that occupancy sensors are not only suitable for leds, but also work best. Ceiling lighting requires the transmission of light in one of two ways. It can either scatter light in a wide Angle or keep it in a narrow space.

An important use for narrow lighting is in warehouses. Pickers who select items from the warehouse for transportation or purchase can walk into the aisle they need and turn on the lights immediately. And then it will close. This does not require the selector to add a lookup switch to its task list. This simplifies work and improves productivity.

The reason the occupancy sensor is best suited for LED high ceiling lighting is because LED technology is almost instantaneous. Once the sensor is triggered, the lamp lights up and reaches the desired brightness in a fraction of a second. For other high-intensity discharge bulbs, it takes a while for the bulb to warm up and reach the desired light output. It's a waste of time and energy. There are no leds.
